Sad to hear of Doc Watson’s death. I haven’t heard any of his recordings but have great memories of learning Blackberry Rag & Omie Wise among others during your lessons in 1974. I still have his songbook “Songs of Doc Watson”. Price sticker $4.95!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Mike. My sister & I & 100′s of others thoroughly enjoyed your Saturday gig in Budawang at National Folk Festival. I knew I had a vinyl of yours, “An Evening with MM – Live” (1977). So I had better have it transferred to CD to listen on my work commute. Your clear diction made the enjoyment of listening to your songs a pleasure. I do hope you will grace Canberra with more gigs in the near future. I can recommend The Street Theatre as an intimate & good acoustic venue.

Thanks for the thoughts Alan, much appreciated. There are other concerts planned for Sydney so keep an eye on the website and if you can make one come and re-introduce yourself – and we can both reminisce about how young and foolish we once were.

Hi Maureen, thanks for the note. Ballina and the north coast are definitely on the agenda. My new manager is currently working on it now. The Burning Log last night was a sell out and most enjoyable – just Stefan my keyboard and I. Lots of solo stuff and his playing on the songs we recorded together without any guitar from me – which I must admit is a treat to do on stage when I have been so used to having a guitar in my hands all the time.

Mike, I have always thoroughly enjoyed every one of your performances that I’ve been fortunate enough to experience over the past decades. Some with Doug Ashdown, the most recent with Kevin Johnson and Doug at Tweed Heads some years back. My all time favourites are the ones with just you, your guitar and your heartfelt songs. A very rare & special combination indeed. Keep up the great work, your music and lyrics are as much loved today as ever. For those who will hear your music for the first time …… the wonderful thing about discovering a “new” talent you never knew existed, is the large catalogue of albums to catch up on instead of the looooong wait for their next album! Best wishes for the Canberra Folk Festival. I can’t wait to see you perform again, hopefully in Ballina soon!
